ST. PETERSBURG, FLORIDA – October 27, 2016
Bankers Insurance Group (BIG), an affiliate of St. Petersburg, FL-based Bankers Financial Corporation, today hosted the Salvation Army Kettle Classic Golf Tournament at the Bayou Club in Largo, FL, extending Bankers’ lead sponsorship to 18 straight years.
The goal of the tournament is to make a lasting impact in the lives of children and families in the St. Petersburg community by raising awareness and funds for the St. Petersburg Area Command of the Salvation Army. Since its inception, the tournament has raised more than $1 million dollars. The event honors the memory of longtime Bankers executive Edward Hussemann.
“Bankers is a leader in social responsibility within the Tampa Bay area,” said Salvation Army Area Commander Spokesperson Lt. Colonel Gary Haupt. “We continue to set new fundraising milestones and are thankful for our ongoing partnership with Bankers.”
“Bankers always seeks to give back to the communities in which we do business,” said Joe Doyle, Bankers Staff Counsel and chairman of the Kettle Classic Planning Committee. “The Salvation Army’s continued advocacy for disadvantaged families in our community makes the partnership between our two organizations a natural fit. We look forward to growing our partnership in support of the Salvation Army’s important work.”
